Generator 5KVA
Maintenance
Question : Why is my generator unit frequently jammed before started, even though it is only used occasionally, which is when the electricity goes off? Answer : Basically, a generator unit is similar to a motor cycle. Although you don’t use it very often, the engine should be warmed up occasionally. Same thing goes with your generator unit; it should be warmed up periodically.
Question : How do you warm up a generator properly? Answer :
- Firstly, make sure you shut off any PLN electrical connections (do this by turning down the MCB switch of KwH meter);
- On the generator → switch the button from ”AUTO” position (indicated by green light) to ”MANUAL” position (indicated by red light);
- Do the warming up for about 30 minutes;
- After it is done, switch back the button from ”MANUAL” to ”AUTO”;
- Repeat the above steps once a week.
Question : How often should I change the generator engine oil? Answer : Change the engine oil after the first 100 hours of usage. After that, you may change the oil every 500 hours of usage. To know which type of oil that best suits the generator, kindly see the generator’s manual book or directly call Kawan Lama’s Hotline Service for further assistance.
Question : For generator with radiator, how do you change the air coolant? Answer : You can change the radiator water once a year. Avoid using tap water as it may cause corrosion and leaks the radiator pipes. We suggest that you use a special coolant water for the radiator, commonly used in motor vehicles.
Question : In a generator, which consumable parts that I should concentrate more? Answer : The oil filter, the diesel fuel filter, and the air filter.
- For oil filter, do the replacement if the unit has operated for 500 hours.
- For diesel fuel filter, the replacement depends on the quality of the diesel fuel.
- For air filter, the replacement depends on the air condition around the generator. If it is dirty, you can clean it yourself with Air Spray.
